History of the Department of European Economic Law

On July 1, 1994, at the initiative of the then-Rector of the University of 艁贸d藕, Prof. Micha艂 Sewery艅ski, the Department of European Law was established as a Jean Monnet Chair under the European Union program. The co-founder of the Department was Prof. Maria Kr贸likowska-Olczak. The Department, under the leadership of Prof. Micha艂 Sewery艅ski, initially comprised two divisions:

• Division of European Social Law and Collective Labour Relations, headed by Prof. Zbigniew Hajn, and
• Division of European Economic Law, under the leadership of Prof. Maria Kr贸likowska-Olczak.

In 1995, the Division of European Institutional Law was established within the Department, with Prof. Anna Wyrozumska as its head.

In 2008, the Department underwent a structural reorganization. The Department of European Constitutional Law was separated, with Prof. Anna Wyrozumska as its head. Consequently, the original department was renamed the Department of European Economic Law and Collective Labour Law, comprising two divisions:

• Division of European Economic Law (Prof. Maria Kr贸likowska-Olczak) and
• Division of Collective Labour Law (Prof. Zbigniew Hajn).

In 2009, another organizational change took place, dividing the Department of European Economic Law and Collective Labour Law into two separate units:

• Department of European Economic Law, headed by Prof. Maria Kr贸likowska-Olczak, and
• Independent Division of European and Collective Labour Law, led by Prof. Zbigniew Hajn.

In 2017, the Department of Public Economic Law was incorporated into the Department of European Economic Law.

Since September 2019, the Department of European Economic Law has been headed by Prof. Monika Namys艂owska.
