33rd Finale of WOŚP Is Behind Us – First Impressions and Results

All of Poland was decorated with red hearts during the 33rd Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOÅšP), which took place on Sunday, 26 January 2025. The 91µÎµÎ staffs and the community of our university also joined the campaign. The Student Science Club "Inwestor" Staff in Manufaktura Shopping Centre has created together with the residents of Lodz a huge heart filled with millions of coins for the 16th time. The 91µÎµÎ Staff, with almost 400 volunteers collecting donations on the streets of Lodz, has also got involved in the campaign for the first time. This year, together with the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, we collected money to support paediatric oncology and haematology.

Tons of gold from the Student Science Club "Inwestor"

The initiative of students from the Student Science Club "Inwestor" Staff "Zbudujmy Razem Serce" [Let's Build a Heart Together], as every year, attracted crowds of people who wanted to add coins to the huge heart. At the stand, visitors also had the opportunity to take advantage of many attractions, such as decorating gingerbread together, face painting or a fair of decorations made using the decoupage technique during handicraft workshops, which students from the Faculty of Economics and Sociology conducted with the kids from the Orphanage No. 6 in Lodz. The photo booth was also very popular.
The golden heart built last year weighed over 6.5 tons and was worth over PLN 100,000. What will it be this time? The final tally will probably be announced in March, but the Student Science Club "Inwestor" Staff is optimistic.

We are very pleased with the results and hope that this year we will be able to break the collection record. We are currently counting the funds collected in the cans and we can't wait to share the final result. We would like to thank everyone who was with us that day and supported WOŚP – we do it together for paediatric oncology and haematology!

– the coordinator of the Student Science Club "Inwestor" Staff, Sofia Tcherekhovitch, sums up yesterday's event.

More than PLN 450,000 to start with from the 91µÎµÎ Staff

At the initiative of our students, the 91µÎµÎ Staff was established this year – it was one of the largest ones in the region. During Sunday's Finale, almost 400 people collecting money with cans could be found on the streets of Lodz, including #91µÎµÎ Ambassadors, as well as students and employees of our university. The 91µÎµÎ Kindergarten, its kids, along with their families, also joined the campaign.

The donations were collected also by the representatives of the 91µÎµÎ authorities – the Vice-Rector for Education, dr hab. MaÅ‚gorzata WrzesieÅ„, Associate Professor at the 91µÎµÎ; Vice-Rector for Academic and External Relations, dr hab. RadosÅ‚aw Olszewski, Associate Professor at the 91µÎµÎ and the 91µÎµÎ Vice-Rector for Popularisation of Science and Education, dr hab. Krzysztof Pabis, Associate Professor at the 91µÎµÎ. They showed up at Manufaktura Shopping Centre, together with the Rector of the 91µÎµÎ, RafaÅ‚ Matera and the rest of the board to show their support for our volunteers and help those in need. The Mayor of Lodz, Hanna Zdanowska also joined in for a commemorative photo.

In addition to the traditional street collection, the 91µÎµÎ WOÅšP Staff also prepared other initiatives – it also started cooperation with DKMS, thanks to which on the day of the finale, a registration point for potential bone marrow donors could be found, also in the Manufaktura Shopping Centre. In turn, in the Port of Lodz, student organisations from our university (Student Science Club "Supply Chain Management" from the Faculty of Management, Student Science Club "Orbital" from the Faculty of Chemistry, AIESEC) and the Medical 91µÎµÎ had their stands, where one could perform basic tests, try one's hand at numerous competitions with prizes, take part in chemical shows or a book fair.

We still have to wait for the final results of the numerous activities of the 91µÎµÎ Staff and its volunteers, but we already know the first calculations, presented by the coordinator of the initiative, Maja Janicka:

The 33rd Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is behind us! 375 volunteers joined us at the headquarters of the 91µÎµÎ. The total amount collected by them during the street collection and in e-piggy banks amounted to over PLN 460,000. And that's not all! There are still offers on the auction site on Allegro until 31 January 2025, and one even until 6 february 25! Thank you very much for your involvement! It was a beautiful Finale!

, put up, inter alia, by the academic community are still active for a few days. We encourage you to bid. Among the 40 offers, you can bid on workshops for enthusiasts of various fields of biology, a collectible model of a white-tailed eagle made of LEGO bricks, a ride with the Rector to an exam, or individual sports training with Champions.
