Alicja Piechucka is an Americanist, English philologist, literary scholar, literary and film critic, and has been Associate Professor of American literature at the University of 艁贸d藕 since 2020.
In 2006, she received her PhD from the University of 艁贸d藕, based on a doctoral dissertation devoted to T.S. Eliot鈥檚 poetry. Her postdoctoral research concerned mostly twentieth-century American literature, with particular emphasis on modernist poetry and modernist as well as contemporary prose. Central to her academic interests is also comparative literature, in particular the intersection of American and French literature. In 2020, she obtained her habilitation in the field of the humanities in literary studies, based mostly on a cycle of scholarly works dealing with Hart Crane鈥檚 poetic 艙uvre.
She has authored over 100 works of scholarly and popular literary criticism, including two monographs. She reviews articles for international and national academic journals. In addition to being a scholar, she is active as a literary and film critic, regularly publishing reviews in Nowe Ksi膮偶ki and Kultura Liberalna.
Her teaching activities include lectures, seminars and tutorials in American literature as well as in US history and culture. She has supervised over 40 BA and MA theses.
She has received the University of 艁贸d藕 Chancellor鈥檚 Prize for Research Excellence twice, in 2017 and 2021. She is a member of the Polish Association for American Studies (PAAS).
She is fluent in English and French.
