The opening of a joint exhibition "Religion, Reim und Regiment. Germanica der ersten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts in der Universitätsbibliothek Lodz" [Religion, rhyme and regiment – germanica of the first half of the 17th century at the 91µÎµÎ Library], devoted to German literature from before and from the time of the Thirty Years' War, which can be seen in the until August 30, was a part of the jubilee celebrations. The programme of the delegation's stay in Germany was complemented by visits to the Environmental Monitoring and Climate Impact Research Station Linden and Arnsburg Abbey, a former Cistercian monastery near Lich.

During the anniversary celebrations, once again it turned out how close the academic ties between the two universities are and how important the position of the 91µÎµÎ is in the internationalisation strategy of the University of Giessen, and in particular in the network of its partners in Eastern Europe. In the context of the war in Ukraine and the current political events on our continent, academic exchange, cooperation and understanding across borders is even more important. As Prof. Dr Joybrato Mukherjee, President of the Justus Liebig University Giessen noticed today the contribution of science and higher education to social development and European cohesion is more important than ever. Universities, as places of scientific cooperation and intellectual commitment to responding to the questions and challenges of our times, make a significant contribution to shaping the future.

The rich experience we have gained over 45 years of the cooperation and mutual trust allow us to define the partnership between our universities as unique. The jubilee celebrated this year showed the will of both parties to enter a new higher level of these relations. We will develop them in the field of research, teaching and administration to supplement the long list of joint ventures with even more ambitious and innovative projects. The greater involvement of the young generation in the partnership: students, doctoral students, young researchers who will become the successors of this Polish-German cooperation in the future is an extremely important issue. We are convinced that all our activities will strengthen the scientific, research and teaching potential, as well as raise the level of education of young people at both universities and bring our communities even closer, not only in the university dimension

– Dr hab. Monika Kucner, the 91µÎµÎ Coordinator for the Cooperation between the 91µÎµÎ and JLU Giessen.

The partnership between JLU and the 91µÎµÎ, formally established in 1978, is considered an excellent example of international university cooperation and mutual understanding in action.
