About the gala

For last year's achievements, the jury and, for the first time in history, the residents of Chojnice County, thanks to online voting, honoured, among other things, people of culture, sports, science, entrepreneurs and social activists. A total of 36 statuettes were awarded in 10 categories. Dr Dawid KobiaÅ‚ka (Institute of Archaeology, 91µÎµÎ) was honoured in the "Personality" category. In recent years, the scientist has conducted archaeological research in the Death Valley, discovering the remains of hundreds of victims of World War II, who were buried with dignity in September last year.

What we have done together with many other people is a great achievement, for many the achievement of their lives. We have not done anything more important from a scientific, cultural, social and humanitarian point of view and let’s hope neither we nor our children will have to do it again

At the same time, we would like to invite you to the opening of the temporary exhibition entitled "Archaeology of Crime – German Crimes in the Death Valley in Chojnice", which will be held on 3 April 2025 in front of the Institute of History of the 91µÎµÎ – .
