Prof. Aneta Pawłowska with the Title of Honorary Professor of KNUCA

The 91µÎµÎ Faculty of Philosophy and History hosted the ceremony to award the title of Honorary Professor of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA) to Prof. Aneta PawÅ‚owska from the Institute of History of Art, 91µÎµÎ on 16 June 2025. The event was organised online.

About the event

Prof. Aneta PawÅ‚owska (Institute of History of Art, 91µÎµÎ) was unanimously recommended to receive the title of Honorary Professor of KNUCA by the Faculty of Architecture of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, during a meeting of the Faculty Scientific Council on 27 May 2025.

The award ceremony, which was held online on 16 June 2025, was the first of its kind organised at KNUCA since 2020It should be noted that Prof. Aneta Pawłowska is the first woman to be honoured with this title.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the decision to confer the title of Honorary Professor of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture to me. Accepting this prestigious distinction is not only a great honour for me, but also a symbol of the special value of our long-standing scientific and academic cooperation. I particularly appreciate the fact that in such a difficult time for Ukraine, in the conditions of the ongoing war and numerous challenges, there was a place and space for maintaining international cooperation, developing research and mutual support of academic communities. I treat your gesture as an expression of trust, friendship and academic solidarity that has been connecting our communities for many years

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Faculty of Architecture of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, including: Rector of KNUCA, Prof. Oleksiy Dniprov, Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Petrov Kulikov, Vice-Rector Oleksiy Shkuratov, Vice-Rector for Research Oleksandrov Kovalchukov, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the KNUCA Prof. Oleksandrov Kashchenkov, Prof. Yulia Ivashko and members of the University’s Scientific Council.

Multi-level cooperation between the universities

Prof. PawÅ‚owska’s receipt of the title of Honorary Professor is the culmination of many years of cooperation between the 91µÎµÎ and KNUCA.

Professor PawÅ‚owska, together with the Institute of History of Art at the 91µÎµÎ which she heads, has been cooperating with KNUCA for many years in various areas, including:

  • organisation of joint scientific conferences
  • publication of monographs and articles in scientific databases
  • co-supervision of doctoral dissertations
  • research internships
  • participation in doctoral dissertations on both sides
  • mutual participation in review works and committees

Renewed framework agreements regulating these forms of cooperation were signed in 2025.

In recent years the following have been implemented:

  • co-supervision of the doctoral dissertation by Anastasia Maksymivna Kliuchnikova (Ukraine, 2025)
  • participation of Prof. Julia Iwaszko as a reviewer in Agnieszka KoÅ‚odziejczak's doctoral dissertation (Poland, 2025)
  • publication of two monographs: "I w zÅ‚ej i dobrej doli" (2023) and "Kalejdoskop" (2024), with a third one planned – "Sergij Belinskij. Fotografia" – for 2025
  • implementation of research internships for KNUCA employees at the 91µÎµÎ (Julia Iwaszko, Oleksandr Iwaszko, 2024)
  • organisation of a series of international exhibitions devoted to the work of artists during the war (Lodz, PoznaÅ„, Opava, Ostrava, Santiago de Compostela), together with catalogues "I Å›wiatÅ‚ość w ciemnoÅ›ci Å›wieci" and "Kwiaty PoÅ‚udnia", and production of a series of documentary films
  • implementation of joint research projects
  • participation of KNUBA lecturers in scholarship programmes of the 91µÎµÎ and the Visegrad Fund

There are plans to further expand cooperation, including the development of joint research on the conservation of works of art, art history and accessibility.
