Dr Dawid Kobia艂ka's research project concerns mass executions, as a result of which 20 to 30 thousand people died in the first months of World War II in the pre-war Pomeranian Voivodeship. The victims, including priests, teachers, politicians, merchants, officials, as well as mentally ill people and representatives of the Jewish community, were buried in mass graves, which was intended to erase the traces of the crime. Dr Kobia艂ka's team works using an interdisciplinary approach combining the work of specialists in such fields as: archaeology, history, ethnography, physical anthropology, genetics, chemistry, soil and plant analysis and many others.
The "Archeologiczne Sensacje 2024" competition, organised by the popular science magazine "Archeologia 呕ywa" and its editor-in-chief, Dr Rados艂aw Biel, evaluates unique discoveries, publications, projects and events related to the work of Polish archaeologists that took place in 2024.
