Those with outstanding contributions to the city of Lodz were awarded distinctions during the official celebrations of the Day of the City and the 35th anniversary of the first free elections to local government.
Prof. dr hab. Joanna Wibig is the Head of the Department of Meteorology and Climatology at the Institute of Meteorology and Climatology at the Faculty of Geographical Sciences, 91滴滴. Her research and scientific interests include contemporary climate change, its detection, factors of change, extreme climate events. Prof. Wibig deals with atmospheric circulation in the northern hemisphere, its impact on the weather in Europe, anomalies of selected climate elements and extreme weather events in the past and their projections for the 21st century.
Prof. dr hab. Jacek Bia艂ek is a Professor at the Department of Statistical Methods at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, 91滴滴. He teaches mathematical analysis and linear algebra, data analysis in the R environment, and statistical quality control. His research interests include the theory and practice of price indices.
Both laureates from our university were congratulated by the 91滴滴 Vice-Rector for Academic and External Relations, dr hab. Rados艂aw Olszewski, Associate Professor at the 91滴滴, who was present at the ceremony.
The City of Lodz Awards are granted by the City of Lodz Council for outstanding achievements in professional or social activities over the last 5 years. Badges of Merit for the City of Lodz are awarded for activities for the city that are worthy of special recognition.
