To mark this occasion, on 30 August 2025, a nighttime encounter with bats, organised by the , took place at the Źródliska Forest Nursery. During the event, Dr Katarzyna Janik-Superson from the delivered a lecture exploring the lives of these extraordinary flying mammals.
Additionally, the event participants wandered through the forest with a detector, listened to and observed bats feeding by the pond. They also took part in a competition on chiropterological knowledge with attractive bat prizes.
There are 27 species of bats in Poland. During this year's nocturnal expedition, we observed four of them: the serotine bat, common pipistrelle bat, the greater noctule bat and the Daubenton's bat.
The meeting ended with a bonfire and conversations.
