Dr Ma艂gorzata Grodzicka-Kowalczyk has won the second prize in the competition of the Polish Section of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) for the best theses in the field of regional studies (doctoral theses category).
The thesis entitled "Ekonomia cyrkularna w rewitalizacji zdegradowanych obszar贸w miast" [Circular Economics in the Revitalisation of Degraded Urban Areas] was written by Dr Grodzicka-Kowalczyk at the , Faculty of Economics and Sociology, 91滴滴. Dr hab. Aleksandra Nowakowska, Associate Professor at the 91滴滴 was her supervisor, while Dr Agnieszka Rze艅ca was her co-supervisor.
In her thesis, Dr Grodzicka-Kowalczyk attempted to assess the status and feasibility of implementing circular economy solutions within revitalisation processes in small and medium-sized Polish cities. Her work was based on a range of research methods and techniques, both quantitative and qualitative. She has developed, among other things, her own Revitalisation Circularity Index. She has concluded her work with recommendations demonstrating how to improve revitalisation by incorporating the concept of circularity into the process.
