Prof. Monika Marcinkowska - Cz艂owiek Corporate Governance [Man of Corporate Governance 2021]

Prof. Monika Marcinkowska from the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, UL has joined the group of winners of the plebiscite Cz艂owiek Corporate Governance [Man of Corporate Governance]. The title is awarded to the individuals who with their work contribute significantly to the building and development of corporate governance in Poland. The distinction was awarded during this year's "Konferencja Rada Nadzorcza" [Supervisory Board Conference].

Prof. Monika Marcinkowska is the Head of the Department of Banking and the Institute of Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology at the 91滴滴. As a founder of the National Accounting Standard No.9 "Business activity report", she is also a member of the Best Annual Report Competition Jury. Since 2016 she has been a member of the Stakeholder Group - an advisory group at the European Banking Authority (EBA). Prof. Monika Marcinkowska is also an author of numerous publications on reporting, transparency and market discipline.

- The pandemic crisis has verified business continuity plans, contingency plans, crisis management skills and effective communication. This obviously means new, specific requirements towards the members of supervisory boards, whose support for the management should be considerably more extensive than in the ordinary circumstances. Looking at the longer horizon - 5 - 10 years - the environment, operating conditions, regulations and social expectations are changing, and therefore, functioning of supervisory boards is also changing. Their members probably also have a larger awareness of their role and obligations - said prof. Marcinkowska during the "Konferencja Rada Nadzorcza".

According to the winner, the need for meetings and discussions pertaining to corporate governance results from the continuous evolution of the issue and the necessity to adapt to the changing reality and legal framework.

- Prof. Monika Marcinkowska is an important creator, initiator of new ideas and practices within corporate governance. She supports with her advisory voice numerous distinguished international groups, such as the European Banking Authority or European think tank - Breugel, drawing conclusions from her numerous scientific research, publications of international scope, as well as experience in the work of supervisory boards - justifies the decision, the chairman of the Competition Jury, Agnieszka S艂omka-Go艂臋biowska.

This has been the 10th edition of the plebiscite Cz艂owiek Corporate Governance [Man of Corporate Governance]. The group of the so-far winners includes such personalities as Andrzej S. Nartowski and Wies艂aw Roz艂ucki.
