Wioletta Piasecka is an author of numerous novels, children's books, as well as radio plays and theatre scripts. Her series "Otuleni z Syberyjskim Wiatrem" tells the story of characters in the 19th century, during the partitions and exiles to Siberia. The series includes the books "Zdeptane nadzieje" [Trampled Hopes] "Przerwana mi艂o艣膰" [Interrupted Love] and "Skradziona mi艂o艣膰" [Stolen Love], which premiered on 30 July.
So as to reflect the realities of the era better, Mi艂ka Skalska (a journalist and a commentator), who led the meeting, invited Dr Ewelina Kostrzewska (Institute of History, 91滴滴) to join the conversation. The historian, specialising in the 19th century, spoke to the event participants about the historical background of Siberian exile.
A few words on the "Plac贸wka Kultura" project
The "Plac贸wka Kultura" project by Poczta Polska has been actively promoting literature, inviting authors and readers to its branches across Poland for almost a year now. The initiative has already included meetings with writers such as Justyna Jeli艅ska, Monika Wawrzy艅ska, Agnieszka Lis, Krystyna Mirek, Katarzyna Majgier, Teresa Godlewska, S艂awomir Koper, Gabriela Garga艣, and Urszula Gajdowska. Garmond Press is co-organising all the events.
