The goal of the project is to analyse the differences in the way the war in Ukraine is presented in Polish and German public discourses and to examine their impact on relations between the two countries.

The key research questions concern the fundamental differences in the images of war in the media of both countries, the intensification of these discourses in different periods and the role of 鈥渄iscourse of fear鈥 in shaping public opinion.

The project also raises questions about the characteristics of discourses of fear that emerged in the context of the war in Ukraine and their significance for contemporary Polish and German public debates.

In line with the social constructionist perspective, widely used in public discourse research, the term 鈥渁nxiety鈥 is understood here as a discursive means of shaping the image of reality, rather than as an emotional state experienced by individuals.

The planned research concerns the state of public debate in Poland and Germany, rather than the psychological state of Polish and German societies. It will focus on how the media names, defines, amplifies or silences threats to the future of Poland and Germany, which are defined as related to the war in Ukraine.

The German-Polish Science Foundation was established to promote science and international understanding by strengthening cooperation between students, scientists and researchers from Poland and Germany. The foundation's goal is to support innovative projects and new models of cooperation in both countries. The foundation supports Polish-German collaborative projects in the fields of the humanities, cultural studies, law and social and economic sciences.

We would like to offer our congratulations on the success!
