In his first match at the current 138th edition of this oldest tournament in the world, he defeated the higher-ranked Matteo Berrettini (No. 32 in the ATP rankings) 3-2. These victories made the Pole advance from No. 109 to No. 96 in the live ATP rankings, and another victory will result in an even bigger jump.
