Department of History of Education and Pedeutology

Research directions of the Department

The research concerns the history of education, care, teaching, family, childhood and educational, cultural and scientific organizations. The area of interest also includes the biographies of scholars, teachers and socio-educational activists of the 19th and 20th centuries, with particular emphasis on the second half of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th century and the interwar period.

Major research projects

Implementation of a research project titled 鈥淓ducation and upbringing in the formation of Polish modernity and independence in the years 1905-1918鈥� under the programme of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the name 鈥淧aths to Independent Poland鈥� in 2018-2023. Headed by: dr. hab. A. Bo艂dyrew, prof. of the 91滴滴.

Cooperation with academic centers from Poland and abroad

As part of the research project 鈥淓ducation and upbringing in the formation of Polish modernity and independence in the years 1905-1918鈥� cooperation with the University of Warsaw, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Maria Curie-Sk艂odowska University, Kazimierz Wielki University, as well as the Institute of Lithuanian History in Vilnius.

The most important awards and prizes

Honorable mention for the monograph by J. Sosnowska entitled 鈥濩hild Care in interwar Poland. Workers鈥� Society of Friends of Children - Lodz Branch (1923-1939)鈥� in the competition of the scientific award of the Lodz Scientific Society named after Professor Irena Lepalczyk for research works in the field of social pedagogy (2021).
