- Azerbaijan – 194 students

What attracts international students to the 91µÎµÎ?
91µÎµÎ successfully recruits international students, creating a multicultural study environment and an open academic community. In order to find out the reasons why candidates choose our study offer, an anonymous survey monitoring the satisfaction of international students of the 91µÎµÎ was conducted in December 2022 by the staff of the university International Relations Office. Three meetings with selected groups of students for the so-called satisfaction surveys in focus groups were also organised. Among other things, the students were asked which aspects of studying at the 91µÎµÎ they found most satisfying.
The students most frequently mentioned general friendliness and safety, which indicates that they feel comfortable at the 91µÎµÎ and generally in Lodz. In addition, they said they appreciated the way the classes were run and the education level at the 91µÎµÎ. The students also spoke highly of the quality of service provided by the administrative departments at the 91µÎµÎ, where they completed formalities during their first days of stay. We realise that the admission process and the form of communication with prospective students builds up an image of the future place to study. In student’s opinion – applying simultaneously to various Polish and foreign universities – admission process at the 91µÎµÎ was very simple and friendly
– says Liliana Lato, Head of the International relations Office at the 91µÎµÎ.
When asked why they had chosen the university, the majority of respondents answered that the University's offer met their expectations. The respondents also claimed that most often they found out about our university by recommendation – from current students or alumni who pass on information about the 91µÎµÎ to their colleagues in their country of origin.

Another factor driving the increase in the number of international students in English-language study programmes is, among others, Russian aggression against Ukraine. In autumn 2022, there were 838 Ukrainian citizens in all (not just 'English') study programmes at the 91µÎµÎ, 149 more than the year before. This is a significant increase.

Internationalisation strategy at the 91µÎµÎ
91µÎµÎ is one of the leaders among universities in Poland in terms of internationalisation. According to a report by the Central Statistical Office, it ranked third in terms of the number of international students in 2020 and 2021, being third only to Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw.
91µÎµÎ in its strategy for the sake of further internationalisation of education is committed to increasing the number of classes taught in English (and other foreign languages), including those taught by international lecturers. In addition, in order to strengthen competences enabling graduates of the university to find employment in line with their expectations, it plans to open more study programmes with English as the language of instruction. These processes are supported by obtaining further international accreditations.
